Ghost Light

“Third Rail are masters of the skewed perspective”

The New York Times

CRITIC’S PICK: "Ghost Light is a spectral tour of the hoary legends, superstitions and rituals that remain sacrosanct in the hearts of even the most jaded playmakers... Third Rail are masters of the skewed perspective."

– Ben Brantley, The New York Times

About Ghost Light

LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater @ the Claire Tow Theater (2017)

Third Rail Projects brought their unique blend of immersive performance to LCT3 and invited audiences into the unseen corners of the Claire Tow Theater to explore the world on the other side of the proscenium.

GHOST LIGHT was a performance about performance which navigated through a series of real and dreamlike landscapes beyond the footlights, the glitter, and the greasepaint.  It was a benevolent haunting that reflected on the smoke and mirrors, superstitions, and stage magic that conjure the mystique of the theatre.

"... the type of interactive show that should be replicated in every theater town in the country with a yen to take audiences by the hands — literally — and remind them of what the stage can do that no other entertainment platform can."

– Peter Marks, The Washington Post

Press Coverage

"a Third Rail Projects extravaganza... Ghost Light demonstrates that theater really is a job; for all the out-front posturing and drama, the production is a collaboration among many craftspeople with diverse skills. For two hours it keeps you so busy running and climbing, snaking through narrow passageways, fielding flying props and taking orders from people you’ve barely met, that you manage to forget the mess in the outside world."

– Elizabeth Zimmer, The Village Voice
