Immersive Performance Skills: Staying Engaged: Physicality and Presence
W/ Tara O'Con

Thursday, July 13 – 11:00am - 2:00pm
at The Kingsland Ward
$40

Led by Third Rail Projects company member Tara O’Con, this workshop focuses on tools that deepen our ability to remain present and aware of the nuances of our physical experience and the environment around us while in performance. We will explore techniques that allow us to embody material with clarity and consistency, while maintaining a sense of curiosity and improvisation that is responsive to the present moment. This balancing act is an essential approach to allowing our most honest selves to both be seen and inspire genuine connection with our audience.

Dynamic Dialogues: Partnering Each Other, Partnering the Audience
W/ Edward Rice

Thursday, July 27 – 11:00am - 2:00pm
at The Kingsland Ward
$40

The skills required to partner fellow performers are closely related to how we engage with architectural elements such as furniture, walls, and stairs.  In this workshop, participants will explore weight sharing and partnering skills, becoming more facile with dancing with partners and dancing with the structures in a space.  Taught by Third Rail Projects company member Edward Rice, this course is presented through the lens of his composition and contact improvisation backgrounds. Experience in either of those practices is not required, but a background in physical theater, dance or athletics is suggested.
